Window Focus
See where your day went: time per app, with idle detection, redaction and export.
Window Focus (its hub is labelled Window Activity) tracks which app and window you are using and totals the time per day. Its records are stored in a database on your computer.
- 6 am a “day” runs 6 am to 6 am
- 5 min default idle threshold
- Local stored on your computer
- Off tracking starts off until you turn it on
- Off “Redact window titles” starts off
Reading it
Section titled “Reading it”The widget shows the app you are in now, with how long you have been in it, and a total for each app for the day. Use the Previous day and Next day arrows to look at other days. While tracking is off the panel says “Activity tracking is off” with a Turn on button. Once it is on and before anything is recorded it says “No focus tracked yet”; a day with no data says “No focus data for this day yet.”
A “day” runs from 6 am to 6 am local time, not midnight to midnight, so a late evening counts toward the day you started.
Time when you are away from the keyboard is counted as Idle / Away rather than as the app you left open.
Options
Section titled “Options”Right-click the widget (or use the ⋯ Options button in the panel header) for:
| Option | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Track activity | Records which app and window you are using. Turning it off closes the current session and records nothing more; earlier days stay. | Off |
| Redact window titles | Hides window titles in the display. The titles are still recorded; this only changes what you see. | Off |
| Idle threshold | 1, 3, 5 or 10 minutes without activity before you count as away. | 5 minutes |
| Export day as CSV / Export day as JSON | Saves the day you are viewing to a file you choose. | n/a |
To stop recording, turn off Track activity in the widget’s ⋯ Options menu. Tracking stops at once and stays off after a restart. To remove the widget as well, open Plugin settings and turn off the Window Activity card (it includes the Activity Tracker); turn the card back on to bring it back.
