Slack in TeamHUD

Read your Slack channels and DMs, and reply, without leaving TeamHUD. This page is for Members using the desktop app.

Before you start: you are signed in to TeamHUD on the desktop app, and you have a Slack account in the workspace you want.

The Slack tab in the Team Chat panel.
  1. Open chat. Hover the Team Chat hub on the overlay.
  2. Connect. On the Slack tab, or the Team or DMs tab if your organization chats in Slack, choose Connect Slack. Your browser opens.
  3. Approve. Sign in to Slack and allow access.
  4. Pick channels. Back in TeamHUD, the tab lists your channels. Use Filter channels to find one.

What you’ll see: a Slack tab with a count pill for unread messages. While it loads, the tab says Loading Slack….

You can also connect from Preferences, Connections: under Connected Apps, Set up (or Manage) opens the Slack sub-tab with a Connect button. See Connections.

  • Pick a channel or DM to read it. The box says Message and the channel name.
  • Send with the composer. Attach files and use emoji as in other chat.
  • Hover a message for Add Reaction and Reply in thread. Replies open beside the channel with a Reply in thread… box.
  • Your own messages have Edit message and Delete message… (it asks you to confirm).
  • Mark read clears a channel’s count. Open in context jumps to the message in its channel.
  • Remove channel takes a channel off your list; it does not leave it in Slack.
  • To add another workspace, choose Connect a workspace at the bottom of the channel picker.

Your voice can dictate into the box when dictation is on. See What you can say.

  • Write @ mentions as you do in Slack. @here, @channel and @everyone show as such.
  • A message that mentions you is highlighted in the list.
  • Unread Slack messages feed the Slack tab’s count pill. See Notifications.

You do not choose these. Your Org owner or Org admin sets them in the dashboard under Sign-in & Channels:

  • Native channels. If your organization chats in Slack, the Team and DMs tabs show Slack’s channels and DMs instead of TeamHUD’s own. Each team has one chosen Slack channel; if none is chosen, you will see “Choose the Slack channel for your team”, and a Team lead or Org admin picks it.
  • Sign in with Slack. Whether Continue with Slack appears at sign-in. See Install and sign in.
  • Leaving Slack. An organization can remove people automatically when they leave its Slack workspace.
  1. Open Connections. Preferences, then Connections, then Set up or Manage on the Slack row.
  2. Disconnect. In Connected workspaces, choose Disconnect on the workspace.

The Slack tab then shows Slack not connected with Reconnect Slack. If you signed in to TeamHUD with Slack, keep another sign-in method first; see Install and sign in.

  • “Slack not connected”. Choose Reconnect Slack, or Open Slack settings.
  • “Could not load Slack”. Use Retry. The reason is shown under the message.
  • Search says to reconnect. Choose Reconnect Slack to search to grant the extra permission.
  • No channels. The picker says “No channels found”. Check you are in the right workspace.
